Whether near mountains, water, wildlife, or any other potential subject, I always feel a strong desire to see, experience, and capture it through the photographic medium.

My name is Rom Savage and welcome to Rom Savage Photography. I am a Colorado based photographer with a love and fascination for the nature and wildlife in this world. The experience of such incredible moments in life as a photographer only comes in second to getting to experiencing it with my amazing family, that have more often than not been behind the scenes of many of my photographic moments, as I put in the work and time necessary to capture and create my art.

As time moves forward, the world we live in continues to change. It is because of this, that I like to take advantage of the opportunities I get to photograph this natural world as it is today, in a way that shows the visual and emotional beauty or drama within it through my interpretation. In doing so, I hope to inspire others to appreciate this world, and feel a sense of emotional connection to it as well.

When I think how I would describe what motivates me to pursue and create a photographic image, I think of the saying, “The defining moment”, by the great photographer, Henri Cartier-Bresson. There is such wisdom in those words that describes what not just photographers, but all of us are always trying to achieve in search for the defining moment. When everything seems to come together, and are pulled towards it, and into it, like a gravitational force we have no control over. I believe life is made up of these moments that can guide us, but only if we let it. Because life doesn't live for us. We live for life. It is ours to have and choose how to see, how to think, and how to feel. It is in this moment that I feel a connection to something special. To something greater than myself that instinctively must be captured in a way that represents the pure emotion that flows through me in that moment. Led by light and defined by contrast, the moment must be captured. It is a gift… and a curse, as I will always desire to pursue it. Even if it results in me falling in a river from time to time (Okay, it was one time and totally worth it.)

When we write with light, the world becomes our story
